چکیده

I present empirical comparisons between a standard statistical translation model and an equivalent Maximum Entropy model. Results show that the Maximum Entropy model is promising, but highly sensitive to the method of feature selection.

Toward An Empirical Evaluation of Maximum Entropy for Translation Modeling

I present empirical comparisons between a standard statistical translation model and an equivalent Maximum Entropy model. Results show that the Maximum Entropy model is promising, but highly sensitive to the method of feature selection.

Maximum Entropy Based Phrase Reordering Model for Statistical Machine Translation

We propose a novel reordering model for phrase-based statistical machine translation (SMT) that uses a maximum entropy (MaxEnt) model to predicate reorderings of neighbor blocks (phrase pairs). The model provides content-dependent, hierarchical phrasal reordering with generalization based on features automatically learned from a real-world bitext. We present an algorithm to extract all reorderi...

Maximum Entropy Translation Model in Dependency-Based MT Framework

Maximum Entropy Principle has been used successfully in various NLP tasks. In this paper we propose a forward translation model consisting of a set of maximum entropy classifiers: a separate classifier is trained for each (sufficiently frequent) source-side lemma. In this way the estimates of translation probabilities can be sensitive to a large number of features derived from the source senten...

A Maximum Entropy/minimum Divergence Translation Model

I present empirical comparisons between a standard statistical translation model and an equivalent Maximum Entropy/Minimum Divergence (MEMD) model, using several diierent methods for automatic feature selection. Results show that the MEMD model signiicantly outperforms the standard model in test corpus perplexity, even though it has far fewer parameters.

Refined Lexikon Models for Statistical Machine Translation Using a Maximum Entropy Approach

Typically, the lexicon models used in statistical machine translation systems do not include any kind of linguistic or contextual information, which often leads to problems in performing a correct word-sense disambiguation. One way to deal with this problem within the statistical framework is using maximum entropy methods. In this paper, we present how to use this information within a statistic...
